Our tailored cultural orientation sessions are designed to provide WelcomeCorps private sponsorship groups with insights that foster an inclusive and respectful environment for newly arrived families. By understanding the nuances of Iraqi culture, sponsors can create a more inclusive and supportive environment.

Language Assistance

Effective communication is crucial for building connections and understanding. Our translators offer informal translation assistance and basic Arabic language lessons to help sponsors and refugees, helping sponsors and refugees communicate effectively and build connections.

Resource Sharing

Navigating a new environment can be overwhelming and a touch of familiarity can provide much-needed comfort and access to identity-preserving resources. We provide resource guides that connect Iraqi refugees with local goods and services that may cater to their specific needs. From stores offering a favorite Iraqi tea brand to hijab-friendly salon services, we aim to make the resettlement process more accessible, convenient, and comforting. Our extensive network of supporters is also available to help locate or provide essential resources, ensuring refugees and sponsors have a strong support system.

Community Engagement

Building a sense of belonging is integral to home-making. We connect refugees with Iraqi-American community members who can offer valuable insights, advice, and a sense of belonging. By fostering these connections, we create a welcoming community and a stronger support system.

Cultural Preservation

Preserving cultural identity is a cornerstone of our initiative. We celebrate the vibrancy of Iraqi art, culture, music, and more through hosted cultural events.
